Acoustic PC Resources - Laptop Cooling,
What is the best way to cool down your laptop PC. To power or not to power your Notebook Computer. That is the Question.
There are countless reasons why you would consider getting some sort of cooling solution for your notebook computer. If you’re a guy and you plan on
having children at some point in your life, you may not want to cook your soldier’s under a smoldering laptop. If you’re a gal, having flaming thighs might
not exactly be appealing either. Add to this the performance perks and extended life that you can gain from having a properly cooled laptop PC, and it is
clear that having adequate cooling for your notebook should be one of your top priorities.
To Power or NOT to Power
If you take a peek at at our laptop cooling page, you’ll find that the options are plentiful. On the one hand, there are powered solutions that either plug
into a USB port for juice or carry a set of batteries of their own. These are typically equipped with fans that blow cool air into the underside of your
notebook, helping to keep the temperature down to a more comfortable level and there are other advance cooling solutions which exhaust the hot air
out which seem more sensible. These don’t do much in terms of keeping your thighs nice and chilled, but they’ll certainly serve up a cooler hard drive
and a more efficient computer.
Now you have passive cooled laptop coolers with heat pipes and Notebook computer stands. The passive solution is silent and thats a plus but the
down fall is while heat pipe is the best technology for manny other computer cooling soultions with a labtop cooling pad or dock there is no way to get
the heat pipes inside to do the proper job. So if your looking for the maximum cooling soulution air cooling with fans is the way to go if your looking for
totaly silent operation a Notebook stand is a good solution. this method is fairly simple to understand the stand creates a large gap between the labtop
PC and the surface and there for let's the Notebook computer breathe better and run cooler.
However for those on the go Notebook stands may not be the best solution is see this more for an office type enviorment where the laptop PC is
permanently Docked.
Now going back to active laptop coolers should you go with the one exhausting the air, or the one pushing cool air in. Well let's think about this for one
minute pushing the air in will interupt the natural flow of the laptop's internal fan whch is set by default to exhaust in my opnion it makes much more
sense to work with the laptop PC internal cooling design. Also I would like to point out that blowing cool air in is not a bad idea if theye would add dust
filters to the Laptop coolers but since no one has done that im going to have to rule it out as a NO. Pushing cool aior in will also bring in dust and dirt
contamination which will intern cause over-heating as well as componet failure over time. So it only makes sense to get a cooler that exhaust the hot air
out and works with the Notebook computers air cooling design. With that said I only know of one cooler in the market that has that type of a cooling
methos and that would be the Evercool Space Station Quad Cooler There are manny more advantages to the Quad Cooler it is much lighter
than most other coolers due to it ABS flexible yet sturdy plastic construction. Another adavantage to the Evercool Space Station Quad Cooler is the
rounded edges. Compared to a steel or aluminum laptop coolers with sharp edges that can cause permanent injury I prefer the rounded soft plastic
edges just fine. Also the Quad Cooler has a most unique quad port exhaust that is most efficient when cooling your laptop PC. And if that isn't enough
resons to turn you on to this laptop cooler let me also mention it's Modern Desighn is amde to fit Virtualy all size laptops. 15.4", 17'" Widescreens. From
side to side and front to back it covers the whole Notebook PC.
